Blastwave now has 1633 software packages in the stable and
unstable directory tree. We feel that it is time to move this
project to a quarterly release structure in which a snapshot of
the unstable tree will be taken every 90 days. This snapshot will
be based on packages that have had bug reports addressed and
every reasonable effort will be made to ensure a high level of
   quality and stability.

This first quarterly release shall be called "CSW-2005-07" and
it is located under the stable tree of the CSW software
directory. This "CSW-2005-07" release will contain 1078 software
packages for Solaris on both Sparc and on x86 architecture. It is
3.65 GB in size and once the release is opened to the Blastwave
mirror servers then you will have the opportunity to edit your
pkg-get.conf file such that your system will only use software
from that release or you may continue to use the continually
changing "unstable" directory tree. We feel that this approach
will allow you, the Solaris user, to have more control and choice
over your software options. You may choose to run with KDE 3.3.1
and GNOME 2.8.1 from the "CSW-2005-07" release or you may want to
step up to the most recent releases. Please select one as
switching back and forth from unstable to stable will result in
   highly unpredictable behavior.

As always we at Blastwave are happy and proud to deliver this
service to Solaris users on both Sparc and x86. We want to ensure
that you have a easy to use experience with the Blastwave
software project and that you have choices.

The HOWTO http://www.blastwave.org/howto.html will be updated to
reflect these new changes and the actual Release of the software
is scheduled for sometime after Fri Jul 1 2005 and we expect that
time will be required for mirrors to sync.

Please stay tuned to the Blastwave website for further updates
   and documentation as required.
