Yet another build of OpenSolaris.
This time we are at build 22 and I have really fast dual Opteron hardware and thus the end result is a 64-bit OS : 64-bit AMD Opteron based OpenSolaris build 22 Have a quick look at the Blastwave HOWTO and install the CSWcommon package along with OpenSSL and wget. From this point onwards it is trivial to install the latest KDE 3.4.2 or GNOME 2.12 or Xfce 4.2.2 : KDE 3.4.2 is fully loaded with features Xfce 4.2.2 is lightweight and fast Xfce 4.2.2 has all the desktop features you want While you are using pkg-get to install piles of free software you should definately install Mozilla and then use it on all your desktops. Documentation for Xfce may be read with Mozilla Scribus 1.3.1 for Solaris Vastly more important than desktop options are application options and I am very happy to announce that desktop publishing can be done very neatly in the open source world with Scribus 1.3.1 : |
